Our Owners
Independently owned and operated by bikers, Steel Steeds Motorcycle Campground offers travelers a comfortable, enjoyable, and restful stay. Your hosts, Bob & Diane Sykes, are avid motorcyclists and long-time campers. So we know what it takes to make a great camping experience. We are also traditionalists. For us, it is all about the great rides, the local attractions, and having a comfortable place to rest at night and great friends to share it with around a welcoming campfire.
We have ridden a lot of miles and camped for years. When we saw this area, we fell in love with the beauty of the river and the region. We have stayed at all types of places from hostels to hotels, and camped in rain and shine. When we landed in central Pennsylvania, we knew we wanted to share this beautiful place with other motorcyclists. And we wanted a place you could ride to on your motorcycle without packing like the Beverly Hillbillies. That’s why we offer full service facilities. You can rough it if you want but we have full bed and bath amenities. And all our full accommodations come with thick towels and deluxe bedding. If you’d rather haul your own RV (whether that’s a tent, a pop-up or a motor home) – we have a spot for you.
Location, Location, Location
We are close to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon – a lovely ride any day but particularly lovely in the fall when the leaves change. And if your’e like us, a Fall Foliage ride on a crisp, sunny Fall day is a day in heaven! Sleepy at night, the river wakes early with fishermen and boaters. So if you want to cast for the “big one,” we can rent you a fishin’ pole. Whatever you enjoy, this is a great home spot to start your day’s adventure. And we wanted to have a place where those memories can be shared with your buddies around an evening campfire. You gotta see the fire in the WOK!
Steel Steeds is centrally located near Historic Lewisburg, PA. Ride the beautiful byways of central Pennsylvania. Only 8 miles from I-80, Steel Steeds is a short ride to the historic district which includes wonderful shops and antiques. We are also right next door to the Susquehanna Smokehouse for good food and a cold beer. If you want to stay and relax, Steel Steeds offers some wonderful amenities – the river for fishing or boating and traditional games like horseshoes. Most nights we have a central campfire. Would you rather canoe? We can help you out there. If riding ATV’s is your thing, Steel Steeds is only 30 minutes from the Jacks Mountain Trailhead at Bald Eagle State Forest.
So we’ll start the fire and ya’ll come! All you need is your Toothbrush and Jammies!
